Biography
I was born on 8/24/64 on a
warm morning at Manchester Community Hospital in
Connecticut. It was a Monday, a day like any other day. But
I entered a new situation and must of thought "here I
am.....okay...." I grew up in a little town called
Willington about 30 minutes northeast of Hartford and a few
minutes from UConn. I was a precocious kid and very happy
until I was about 8 years old. That's when my mother first
got sick. After that I started questioning more about the
purpose of life. No one in that little town seemed to have
any answers for me. Though it sure seemed like a relevant
question to me. Like before I do anything man, who the hell
am I for starters? Unfortunately for me (actually them)
people looked at me like I was crazy. Who is really crazy,
is what I couldn't help but think. Anyway those kind of
thoughts, which I pretty much have had since I was five
have been the underlying and driving force of my life to
this day. And by the way, I don't believe that's going to
change any time in the near future. In my opinion I've had
an interesting journey up until now. A journey that I will
perhaps sit down and write about in detail some day, but
not today of course. Anyway jumping to the more recent past
I have resided in the Gainesville Florida area since 1993
and have lived and/or traveled in the Carribean, South
America, India, and all over the U.S. and Canada. Haven't
hit Europe yet unless you count Heathrow airport. Didn't
think so. Whatever the case, you will gradually get to know
me better if you regularly visit this space but that's up
to you. I don't know where to start but suffice it to say I
am very grateful for being surrounded by wonderful people.
My wife Glani is from Brazil and is currently studying to
be a nurse. She's a go-getter who works hard and loves all
sorts of beauty, especially the ocean. Very pretty,
intelligent and intense. Her and I make a dynamic team. My
son Shyam is 16 and is training to fufill his dream of
becoming a pro soccer player. He is a great kid (funny yet
serious) a great student (has a 4.0) and has soccer skills
off the charts. He loves the Beatles and loves hanging with
his friends. We have been very close since the day he was
born. My daughter Radha is 14 and is an apsiring actress.
She is quite pretty and happy go-lucky at the same time.
She is very exotic looking being half-Indian. Could be a
model if she wanted. She loves to act and performs in
dramas in and out of school regularly. She is bit of a tv
and movie junkie. Loves old movies as well as new ones and
has many friends. We have a special bond and we love to
thank each other for our father-daughter relationship. My
stepson Govinda is 19 years old. He has the same birthday
as my son Shyam and the same GPA (4.0). He is about to
enter his sophmore year at the University of Florida and
has just been accepted at UF's architecture program. Great
kid, who has a beautiful relationship with his mother. Has
refined taste for the finer things in life. Goes to Hawai
2x a year to visit his father and surf with him at the
North shore. We have a good relationship. I never tell him
what to do but he often comes to me for advice as I am an
astrologer and tarot reader. He has a little bit of psychic
ability himself. I am very close to my younger brother
Keshi (by 15 months). He is a great artist and sculptor and
absolute music and media buff. His wife Veroinca is also a
great artist. His son and my nephew Kavi follows in his
father's footsteps when it comes to art and generally gets
the lead at every play he gets involved with. Kavi is quite
a character just like his father. They are both very close
to my kids. My mother died when I was 14. I was very close
to her. My father is 82 now and lives near Orlando. His
mind is sharp and he is a rare comedic talent who could
have given Rodney Dangerfield a good run for his money if
he had not missed his calling. He is a very sweet and
generous man. His wife's name is Jenny; she's 85 years old
and still active. I have three older sisters who all live
in Connecticut, I see them rarely, although we have
remained close. My wife's mother Maria is a nurse who takes
care of 2 elderly people. She is a cleaning machine who
can't sit still for a second. She has been very supportive
to my wife and I. As touched upon before I am a practicing
Vedic astrologer and also own an alternative giftshop near
UF in Gainesville. I have been a vegetarian since I was 15
and have been chanting Hare Krishna for over 25 years. I am
going back to school in January to study journalism. I want
to become first and foremost a writer for the second half
of my life. I love indie movies. Last but foremost I also
feel a special debt to George Harrison for helping to
change my life way back when in the 70's and A.C.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the great saint of
vaisnavism, who left this world in 1977 but is my constant
inspiration and guiding light of knowledge and love as I
traverse through this uneven and temporary world.
